AVENAL GUN CLUB BPCRS Match Results May 9, 2009

The May BPCR Match at Avenal had 20 shooters trying their best in less than ideal conditions. Sometimes you’re the bug, sometimes you’re the windshield. That’s how it was all day. Even the best of spotters were muttering to themselves.

Match Iron Sight Winner went to Jim “Chicken Killer” Lindsay once again. Jim, Chris Rogers, and myself ended up in a three-way tie with 24. In the “best out of five” shoot-off Jim knocked down two chickens to my one with Chris going hungry. My spotter, Jim Minyard, was quick to point out that if I hadn’t shot a chicken and a turkey out of order there wouldn’t have been a shoot-off. Thanks Jim, I’ll try and shoot straighter next time.

Scope Match Winner went to Ed “The Intimidator” Espinosa. Once again his reputation had Steve Stewart declining a shoot-off. Things will be different for the State Match I’m sure.

California State BPCR Championship Match. We have 53 confirmed shooters. You need to get your pre-registration forms and fees in now if you plan to shoot. We have room for a maximum of 60 shooters. Please call Jerry Hartwig at (559) 285-3407 to check for available spots. Don’t forget, we’ll be having a no-host pot-luck at the clubhouse Saturday evening. You don’t know what you’re missing if you haven’t been to one of these

Indoor Gallery Matches. Our monthly Friday night indoor gallery matches are entirely too much fun.

An informal gallery match that will leave you wondering why you haven’t joined us before. Although we prefer vintage single shot rifles with vintage scopes, any 22 caliber rimfire rifle with any type of sight is acceptable. We plan to shoot the Friday evening before the State BPCR Match also so bring your trusty 22 along and join in the fun.

See you all at the California State BPCR Championship Match. The range will be open for practice Thursday May 28th and Friday May 29th at no additional charge. Practice days are always free at the Avenal Gun Club. Plan to have fun, visit with friends, eat plenty of good food, and maybe shoot a winning score!
