AVENAL GUN CLUB BPCRS Match Results March 14, 2009 |
The March
BPCR Silhouette match hosted 23 shooters. A great time was had by all
as usual. It just doesn’t get any better than springtime in Avenal.
Actually, it doesn’t get any better than BPCR Silhouette in Avenal anytime. Congratulations to Jeanette
Rogers for being Match Winner. She turned in a great score of 27 including
10 turkeys. Very nice shooting Jeanette! You’ve come a long way in a
very short time. AAA irons was a close
one with only 1 target separating Bob Goodner, Chris Rogers, and Jim
Lindsey. AA and A irons were also hotly contested with the winner not
being decided until the last shot was taken in each class. We only had four scope
shooters this month. Steve Stewart and Rich Davis battled it out for
Scope Match winner with Steve taking it with a 26 and Rich right behind
him with a 25. (Ask Rich about his perfect score of 250 at the Schuetzen
Match!) Range Work Day: Friday
April, 10th before our monthly Saturday match we plan to
have a work day at the range. No major projects are planned (except
for me on the backhoe in back of the chicken firing line). We do need
to clean up the berms (bring a rake), repair some sighters (can you
weld or use a torch?), and attend to a few other details. We are planning
another work day for Friday May 8th, again the day before
our monthly Saturday match. This will be our last chance to get things
in order for the State Championship BPCR Silhouette Match. If you can join us Friday
night before the match make sure and try our indoor 22 gallery shoots.
They’re more fun than should be allowed by law. Any 22 rim-fire rifle
and any sights are acceptable. Come and see what it’s all about. Don’t forget to send
in your pre-registration forms and fees for the California State BPCR
Silhouette Championship Match to be held at Avenal. We have room for
a maximum of 60 shooters and are already receiving a lot of entries.
The Almond Tree RV Park
is nearby and offers a discount to anyone who mentions the “Gun Club”.
Some of our regular shooters stay there and say it’s very nice and quite
affordable. The RV park can be reached by calling (559) 935-0711. Our next match will
be April 11th. Drive out to Avenal for an enjoyable experience
