AVENAL GUN CLUB Match Results BPCR, .22, and Lever Action Silhouette May 9th-11th, 2008

Another great weekend at the Avenal Gun Club. Good friends, pleasant weather, and plenty of shooting.

We had a good turnout of 24 shooters on Saturday including 2 new ones. Ken Hendrix and Brian Lovett joined us for their first BPCR silhouette match. Hope to see you both next month.

Arch-rivals Rich Davis and Steve Stewart (they spot for each other by the way) ended up tied at 28 for Scope Match Winner. With both of them almost out of ammo a sudden-death shoot-off was agreed upon. They each took one fouling shot and went for score. Rich shot first and drilled his chicken dead center. Steve’s shot only ruffled some feathers giving the win to Rich.

Bob Goodner shot a very nice 26 making him the Iron Sight Match Winner. I’m still not sure how his spotter (me) let him get ahead by 2 animals. I’ll need to work on that.

All of the scores were very close with three of the classes being decided by chicken count. That offhand practice can really come in handy.

The Don Rogers Memorial Match will be held on October 11th & 12th, 2008. Pre-registration will be required with a limit of 60 shooters. Please contact Jerry Hartwig at (559) 264-7633 with any questions regarding pre-registration.
