AVENAL GUN CLUB BPCRS Match Results August 9, 2008

Thanks to all who showed up for our unofficial August match. The temperature was tolerable and the breeze was livable up until the last set of animals. But then that’s just Avenal.

We had a new shooter this time. Les Lowell came out with Rich Davis and shot his first match, posting a very respectable 16. Judging by the glaze in his eyes at the end of the match, I would say he is hooked! Welcome to the addiction Les.

The scoped Match Winner was, again, Rich Davis, with a very good 28. This is getting to be very boring people. The scope shooters need to step up and give Rich some competition, or we need to do a little work on the muzzle crown of his rifle while he isn’t looking!

We had a first time match winner for the Irons category this time. Travis Rogers shot a great 26 to put everyone else away and take top honors. Actually Jerry Hartwig was the only one close enough to challenge (25), but he choked on the chickens (0) after hitting the swinger 2 out of 3 times! Congratulations Travis on a superb effort. I am sure there will be many more to follow.

Next year the August match will be a sanctioned match. If we are going to have a match, it might as well be official. Also, don’t forget the Air National Guard kids will be here on the Sunday following the September Match. If you can attend and bring a rifle and at least 100 rounds of ammo, it will be greatly appreciated. The kids just eat it up with a spoon! It is a very worthwhile and satisfying experience
