WTT shiloh sporter #1

Post by firefighter1990 » Thu Nov 09, 2017 10:21 am

I have a few too many 45's in the herd and want to try something different. I'm hoping to find a 40-50 straight or maybe 40-70 straight in the long range express configuration as I much prefer that stock design. I'm open to others, maybe a bull barreled Hartford in 40-90 or 44 of some nature. just ask- worst I can say is "no"
If buyers are interested then I'm asking $2400 for it and that includes the shipping to your ffl.

My 45-2.4" sporter #1 rifle consists of;
*Semi fancy wood with AA finish. Right-hand cheek piece.
* 34" heavy octagon barrel. Semi-buckhorn rear with blade front.
* pewter cap.
* standard colorcased finish on action and shotgun butt-plate. About 150 pieces of brass, will go with it.

I can email pictures to serious inquiries. Thanks to all and happy shooting.

I still have the rifle as is, I'm going to need a few extra $ to rebarrel it as its more expensive than I anticipated. Plus deciding what chamber to go with is like deciding which of my parents I love more.

Since you already have 45 2.4 brass, Id recommend the 40-82. Altho that might not be a standard Shiloh offering.
Reason I was wondering, I have a 45-70. but never really fell in love with anything of that caliber, so if you wind up with a spare 45-90 barrel, I may be interested.

I seen that Shiloh does or used to do the 40-82 crossno. I agree with you that a 45-70 (and 40-65 for that matter) are too generic. I would like to stay historically accurate to a sharps chambering but the sporter #1 isn't EXACTLY historically accurate in itself. You're first in line if this barrel comes off.

For what they get for a re barrel job you might just be farther ahead selling the rifle and order what you want. A Shiloh sells very fast if it hasn't been beat up.

How about a 40-82 Silhouette, I had my 40-65 Shiloh #1sporter done up as this.
30 inch barrel,shotgun butt, your brass should work,I'll take my sights off, MVA,you keep your sights.
Send me a PM
Thanks Bill

Last I heard Shiloh charged $650 for a rebarrel. Has it gone up from there?

For just a rebarrel it is that, you are correct. I'm being high-maintenance though and was going to try a different contour and polished so then I'd have to get a new forearm. It's a simple decision but it's killing me picking the exact way I want to go about it. I'd like to stay historically accurate but I've also pondered about doing a 38 or 35 caliber of some sort.

As picky as I'm being, you're right. I could use those funds on an 1877 build. :wink:

Strange that !!!! Altho the I have no real interest in the 45-70, the 40-65 has always been one of my favorites. Probably because it was my first BPCR caliber and the first one I won matches with. and still amazes me when I pull it back out and throw a new load together and its still so accurate.

Take Hiwall up on his offer of the 40-82 and save your rebarrel money for the 1877 !!!!!

Decided I'm going to try and get a 1877 so this rifle is up for sale. Everything as listed above for $2400. I'll pay the shipping to your ffl.
