Original sharps PP factory ammo?

Post by R-71 » Thu Jun 18, 2015 7:11 pm

Was the bullet patched to bore or groove diameter?

I am shooting C Sharps 50 2.5 and my first foray into PP was to bore diameter, the bullets are slip fit in the cases. I can't imagine wandering the plains with belt full of ammo that the bullets fall out of!

They were bore size but your necks need to be tighter if your carrying them around .

I think they made both. But like Arnie says, you need a tighter neck. There are two ways to do this pretty easily.
1. Buy a taper crimp.
2. Take the stem out of a FL die and then run that down far enough to bump the neck as much as needed.
I'm not from here, I just live here.

Those that were patched to bore size were also used in chambers that would not accept a groove sized bullet.
The bore sized bullet was a snug fit in the mouth of a fired case.

Those (today) who shoot bore sized bullets, in chambers cut for groove sized bullets, have to use some 'workarounds' to make it work ... like taper crimping case necks.
