.50/70 dies question

Postby Teleoceras » Wed Jan 25, 2006 4:38 pm

Hiya, I got into BPCR just this past year shooting a Pedersoli .45/70 Trapdoor Springfield. This is after shooting muzzleloaders for almost 25 years. :D

I am interested in getting a Shiloh Sharps Military Rifle in .50/70. Will the dies for the .50/70's that are available would fit my Lee Hand Press? Because of space cosiderations, I am restricted to using the Hand Press.

Yes.

As far as I know, the industry standard for .50-70 reloading die set is a 7/8" x 14 thread. Xcept for a few large rounds--like the 12 g. shotgun, .50 BMG & the 577-450 Martini, this is the standard thread size for dies & presses.
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

Thanks for the info! I wasn't certain only because I heard that some of the .50 caliber dies were larger.
