1877 vs 1877 sharps

Post by lovetabike » Sun May 20, 2018 1:59 pm

It seems both C Sharps and Shiloh sharps put out a nice 1877 and both companies have good reputations. I was wondering if people have any thoughts on either 1877 rifles. I'm going to pull the trigger on one, just hard deciding.

Thanks

I have not seen a C. Sharps 77 in person, but it looks reasonably like a real 77 in the few photos I've seen. I have seen two Shiloh 77s and they do not look at all like a real one.

Axtells, available on the used market, look like a real 77, but can have a few mechanical issues. I have one of these.

This is my Axtell.

I have only seen the Shiloh ones. I watched one being used this weekend at the Wyoming State midrange match and it looked great to me, and shot exceptionally well.

Chris.

There is a nice article in the current BP Cartridge News magazine on the C.Sharps model 1877. You might want to look into that. You might be able to get a single copy here - but it is not very expensive, so you might just order a subscription and enjoy.

I saw a C Sharps 1877 a while back,It was outstanding! The owner said the wait time was not very long and he was well pleased with the rifle.I think he said the base rifle started at about $2700.00 Bob,
