Alliance bptr match ?

Post by Ranch 13 » Thu Apr 12, 2012 9:36 pm

Jim Bourne , has expressed a big interest in having an NRA BPTR match at the Alliance rifle club's Hoffland range.
What he's thinking is a two day affair with midrange and creedmoor.
So now what we need is to find out how much if any interest there is and when would be a good time to have it.
Thanks for your input.

Well, I would certainly be interested. June would be a terrible time to have it - seems like everyone and their brother wants to put shooting matches on in June. Later July through August is a time there is not much going on in this area for BPCR stuff.

It looks like they have a military match and an F class match.

You might just have to pick a date that fits the range, and worry more about getting a local (couple state) contingency to come and maybe drum up more interest for new people to compete.

That's probably what will happen, especially if they try it this year.
I think the biggest thing Jim wants to find out is if there is enough interest to try this , the rest will take care of itself.

I'll come to Alliance for any BP rifle shoot. The Sagebrush was a hoot!

Now if you scheduled it as a warmup for the Phoenix Match next year, I'm pretty sure I'd be free. With the forecast for a high grasshopper outbreak this year, I doubt any time would be good for me this year.

I don't think anybody wants to take a chance on shooting at that range that early in march  They don't even start the club shoots until after the middle of April.
Haven't seen any hoppers here yet, so maybe they'll miss the predictions....

No ,it never got off the ground. Jim did not get enough people to commit to shooting a BPTR match.

I was doing some searching of BPTR events. Looked like there was one in WA about the same time that never took off either.

BPTR is a tough game. Its a fun game but as there are few ranges that can support a BPTR match. There is a match near Spokane that BPTR and high power shoot side by side. They have a couple of BPTR matches at Missoula, and I think they tried one at Bismark.
