Any .22lr BPCR matches near Baltimore

Post by horseman308 » Fri Oct 26, 2018 2:11 pm

I just bought a Stevens 418. I've been wanting a .22lr falling block for a while, and I see some discussions of the .22 BPCR matches. Are there any within an hour or two of Baltimore?

The only place I've seen do regular BPCR much near me is Ridgeway, and in my time of life I can't easily take a 6 hour drive to go shoot (kids under 5, family commitments, and so on). I was hoping this might be close enough to scratch the itch.

That used to be 2 hours from me. I live near Baltimore, MD now. Guess I should change my profile!

However, my in-laws live near Alma, so I'll keep that in mind next time I visit them. Thanks!

Horseman,

Shippensburg Fish & Game Club, located a few miles north of Chambersburg, Pa., shoots NRA BPCR silhouettes. I don't know if they have a .22 BPCR program yet. The club is a bit over two hour's drive from Baltimore.

Atglen Sportsmen's Club near Parkesburg, Chester County, PA. has an interesting Buffalo Shoot held on a 500 meter silhouette range.
It's about an hour and a half drive from Baltimore.

Mainville Sportsmen's Club, near Bloomsburg, Pa., has a great Buffalo shoot that features a running buffalo target at 100 yards and other targets out to 300 yards. This club is 3 hours from Baltimore.

You're most welcome, Horseman! I've shot at all these ranges many times when I lived in Pennsylvania and in Hagerstown, MD. They are all well-run shoots.

Horseman,

Atglen is in Chester County, not Columbia. Sorry about that. Mainville is in Columbia

Horseman,

I forgot a match that's close to you. It's the Ram Bash held monthly at the Fairfax (Virginia) Rod & Gun Club January through November. Course of fire is 40 shots off-hand at NRA full-sized Rams at 200 meters. Here's the shoot flyer:

Horseman,

One more club. I've shot at the other clubs I've posted, but not at this one: the Delmarva Sportsman Club near Sudlersville, MD, on the Eastern Shore. The web site says they shoot NRA sanctioned matches in Cowboy Lever Action rife (the NRA has now dropped the Cowboy designation) and smallbore rifle. I'm sure they would allow you to shoot your single-shot rifle in one of these matches.

I've shot at Delmarva a couple of times. It's a nice range with gongs at 200, 300, and 500 yards. I haven't been there for a formal match, though. Thanks for the tip.
