Buying Powder

Post by Wyomedic » Tue Sep 02, 2008 8:58 pm

I am a newbie to this forum and I am not sure if this is in the right place, but, I live in Idaho near Victor, and was wondering where I could buy powder. I can make the drive to Idaho Falls, so that is not a problem. Seems no one has it anymore. Any suggestions would help. Wife shoots too much out of the 1874. Thanks in advance.

Buying Black Powder

Post by Hiwall » Tue Sep 02, 2008 9:18 pm

Check out the list of supplies on the opening page of BPCR.Net. Powder is shipped to your home from most of the suppliers. One that we have often used with very good results is: http://www.mainepowderhouse.com.

Enjoy, use REAL black powder and you will have good results.

Bear River Powder in Evanston Wy. is pretty good to order from ,for good prices on Goex.

www.grafs.com handles Goex, their own (schuetzen with a grafs label on the bottle) and Swiss. They'll send you 1lb if you want to stand the hazmat on it. Their prices are about as good as anybodies and the order doesn't have to be divisible by 5. (ie you can order 3 lbs of each if that's what suits ya)

Track of the Wolf offers really decent prices ,but they'll only ship case lots.

I live in Salmon....

You can get in at Davey Crockett's in Pocatello and I think that's about the closest black powder to you. I buy my ten pounds at a time from Powder Inc or the Main Powder House.

Wasn't so very long ago some of the larger drug stores were also some of the better gun shops around. Buy Rite in Rawlins used to be one of the best in the state.
