I have been working on a 50-90 put up on a 1902 action. I can not get sufficient hammer clearance to smoothly load 660 grain bulleted cartridges. I have already trimmed the hammer as much as I dare. The top of the firing pin is just peeking out over the top of the hammer.
I was thinking of making a new trigger with a longer sear. The idea would be to trim the reciever so that the hammer will come back a hair further at full cock and make extra clearance for the rim. Dave at Lonestar offers 50-140 in his rollers. How does he make that work?
