Re: Lyman M case mouth expander plugs:

The M die is fine for the smaller calibers. I went to the Lyman M-2 die body that has a wider opening for the bottle necked cases and the .50 caliber. The M-2 will work fine using any size expander plugs.

It didn't take much effort to find how the original Whitworth match rifle designed for long range target shooting.

Re: 2017 World Championships. Australia.

Don. I looked down the basement this morning and I see I still have the .45-120 barrel with the rung chamber. I took it off the sharps action using a pipe wrench so I would not be tempted to sleeve the chamber with the jaw cuts on the barrel. I might cut it down to 30" and thread and screw in a brea...

Re: 2017 World Championships. Australia.

Reading this gets my blood turning again. I still have a hunk of wood, lock and trigger bar and breach plugs laying around. When you get back I will talk to you about a barrel and twist. I always thought a good muzzle loading match rifle shoot as well or better then a cartridge rifle. A lot of fewer...

Re: 2017 World Championships. Australia.

Thank you Brent for posting this.
It looks like there are a fine bunch of hard holders in this event. You guys are holding your own in those conditions. It pays to practice shooting in those conditions.

I would like to get myself a genuine tapered BS bullet sooner than later, but what weight.?? Is 400 grn about right ? Or a tad more, 400 - 425. All suggestions appreciated, as usual. Thanks, SS S.A. I would think more about the length and ogive profile then just the weight. You can have a 1.350" lo...

Re: Another .44-77bn Question

My first reproduction Sharps I wanted Shiloh make it in a .44-77 and the gal behind the counter talked to me for a 1/2 hr at least telling me 100 reasons not to get the .44-77 chamber. Well when I put my money down on the counter and walked out of the door I ordered a .40-70. For 15 years I yearned ...
