Re: Little input/help: Swiss and 40-65

Well for what it's worth got out today and got 1200fps and change out of 54gr and a 400gr Creedmoor. I only got to shoot out to 300yds so not sure about stability from a 16 twist at that velocity for longer ranges. My reduced bands Money bullet seats out far enough for a 62gr starting point (just en...

Little input/help: Swiss and 40-65

I know there are posts here on the topic but poor reception making searches difficult. Limited to the iPhone up against the base of a mountain. Been shooting OE but wanted to try some Swiss 1.5. With a Creedmoor. I'm finding COAL allows only 53gr at the base of the bullet/wad, for a starting point. ...

Re: wipeing between shots or blow tube

Another new shooter here and been working on this one... I BT with a 38-50 and OE 1 1/2 at the paltry five matches I have so far but this month and last been working with a couple 40-65 and OE 2f and was having a heck of a time. In the middle of one load development session I switched to wiping and ...

Re: Remington SQUEEG-E

Thanks for that RL-7. I'll give it a try soon. Was a little confused since there were two that showed 40 caliber, one of them being the one you suggested.

Remington SQUEEG-E

When I shot in yesterday's match I noticed some of the wipers using an orange Squeeg-E plug on their wiping rods. I'd like to try them. Looked like something I'd rather be bumping into the crown on the way back through instead of a brass jag. Anyone using these know what size works well with Arsenal...

Re: Kelley Sight Glare

Fair enough, and thanks. do you have a means of adjusting for different conditions... changing light angles, morning, afternoon... longer matches, etc., i.e., eyepieces with different size apertures.

.. or you have a Hadley style eyecup, in which case throw it in the river". Dang Brent... first I've heard that advice. Is that a common slam against all hadleys, moreso Kelley or you don't like any of them? Would really like to hear your thoughts. Got an MVA Soule on order now and was gonna includ...

Chris, never followed up on this. I got that Shiloh set. Worked perfect! 250 done and 250 to go. Good advise!

Re: New to the Site Steven 44 38-56

Welcome aboard Cliff. That score doesn't sound half bad with peeps and for your first shoot. Congrats on the rifle! Friend just bought a lever in that caliber. I find interesting reading on this site, on ASSRA, the BP section of Castboolits and the Shiloh site. It sounds like you have a good jump on...

Re: Sprue Dimple

Kurt, you inspired me to drive out and dig through the trash cans yesterday. Too cold and windy for anything else. I got a Walmart bag full for storage. I don't cast anywhere near your quantities but I'd like to cast up about 3500 bullets in various calibers over the winter. Wouldn't get you a start...

Re: Sprue Dimple

Thanks Again Gents. From my thermometer reading I need to drop temp from what is posted here and the readings I was getting Saturday. Saturday I cast with a few molds and had finning in vent lines even when I couldn't find any obstructions or see daylight. Started to think I was running so hot that ...

Re: Sprue Dimple

Thanks for the suggestions.

I did look with a magnifier at the sprue I suspected of having a shoulder and there was none. So I'll make use of the suggestions and see how I fair employing them. Downward pressure sounds like a good idea. Thanks! I learn something every time I cast.
