Dave Crossno makes stocks for the Hepburn, and he's the one making the liners to adapt to .22 caliber.

Dave did a set of 90% inletted stocks formy Hepburn, and I finished them from there. I believe he also does stock installs, but contact him to be sure.

The .43 is a great caliber, but definitely wouldn't let a set of dies make me choose it! I'd sell the dies for good money, and chamber a new barrel in something much more common, like a .45-70 or .38-55 myself. As for sights, if I planned to hunt with it, I'd go for barrel sights, but I'd be sure an...

Yes Arnie, the 1881 is one of my favorites (right after Ballards!) and I believe I have seven now. I'm looking at another in .38-55 with pistol grip checkered stocks. Hopefully I will be able to swing it too! I love hunting with classic rifles, and try to hunt a little each year with one of them.-Vall

Hi Beltfed, Looked at your pics at the MSN forum and I'm in love (lust?) with your Zischang Ballard! Those old schuetzen Ballards make me weak in the knees! I picked up another Ballard today. A #3 in .25 Stevens. I've taken deer with two of my 1881 Marlins. One with my .45-70, and another with my .3...

Just a reccommendation... I'd go to DZ Arms and get an action. It took me what seemed to be an eternity to finally find a rusty old relic to build my Hepburn, and then it still took lots of work, and wasn't all that cheap. If I had it to do again, I'd get a high quality new action from DZ and start ...

You might try the Bluebook of Gun Values. In the back are proof mark references that could shed some light on where the proofs came from.

Steer clear of Numrich for that mainspring! They'll sell you one of their horrible piano spring replacements that are too soft, and just not right. Wisners is the place for original repro parts for your model '93 Marlin. They've got great parts, and although a bit higher than Numrich, they're the ri...

Hi Beltfed! As you can see I haven't checked back in here in a Loooooong time! Sounds like you've got a nice assortment of Marlins! I'd love to see that Zischang Ballard! Hi Ken,
Very nice indeed! Is that one of the new Cody Ballards? I see they use a DST, unlike the originals that were single trigger.
What caliber is it?
I have a early Marlin Ballard #4 Perfection in .45-70, with 34" half octagon barrel. Ballards are a real favorite of mine!

Your easiest solution may be to contact Rocky Mountain Cartridge Co. Dave Casey can build a perfect case for your chamber from a chamber casting. Then you can use a .405 die to seat bullets when you reload.
His prices are reasonable, and you'll never wear out a case he makes!
