Re: danish rolling block

I believe they did use a lighter bullet. I put some .405 gr bullets in mine. But really have not tested much for accuracy, I fixed them up for make the rifle go bang, lol! Just fires forming some brass for it.

Re: Another .44-77bn Question

I guess I would have to ask, what are you going to use this rifle for? Hunting, pinking or target shooting of some sort? Or do you just want to have one? If it is target shooting, I would suggest you go look what was used at the BPCR National match last year. The biggest number is .45-70, then .40-6...

Re: wipeing between shots or blow tube

Someone (smarter than me, might have been Woody) said that wiping is basically cleaning the barrel (that is a consistent barrel for each shot, we are looking to be consistent shot to shot), using some form of bore pig brush is again controlling the fouling by pushing it out the barrel and again that...

Instead of a Danish Class, ask for an all original military class of rifles. Whether they be rolling block, sharps or ?

Re: danish rolling block

There was a great article written by Croft Barker in the 2009 Summer and Fall issues of Black Powder News magazine on the Danish Model 1867. And some of it was reprinted in the Single Shot exchange in December of 2014. Talks about the originals being rimfire and then converted to centerfire. Buffalo...

Buffalo Arms would also be a good place to look. Also, John Olson does, I will have to look for his number though for you. Someone else may have his contact info.

Re: where is the member traffic ?

Deadcoyote, Welcome! I shot a lot of cowboy action matches and had a great time with it. Shot several of their so called Long Range Matches. Usually, the Side match for SASS is not that far away, but still fun. Most are done under the clock, meaning you have so long to shoot the rounds off. The old ...

Really nice article about this style of rifle in the Blackpowder News that I just got in. If you are interested at all, go read this article. Very positive review of the Pedersoli John Bodine in this same caliber.

Re: New member

Instead of filler, just put another wad in (or two extra wads) to take up the space. Talk to another friend and he said with Goex, you need to compress it to get it to work and burn fairly cleanly. If you do not compress it, it fouls alot with Goex. Again, that will get you the range, but maybe not ...

Re: New member

Looks like you are at least thinking well on that there is a correct OAL for your cartridge. The way you have done it will work. If you have a set of calipers, you can use it to measure from the back of the bullet to the edge of the chamber. Like you did, push the bullet up to where it makes contact...
