Borchardt Paper Patch Machine

S.W. Wood also received a patent for a machine to paper patch bullets on 25 Feb 1873. The patent number is 136,352. I'm sure there must be many more machines that were patented for that tedious job as well.

Sharps vs Rolling Blocks

I agree about the lack of information. I wasn't there when it happened and we have posted all the information available. The shooter, and I have no reason to doubt his word, provided the information that his loads were straight black. Either detonation or metal fatigue - which ever it was, it sure s...

I rather like them myself. Shoot various models all the time. Here is my 1873 Creedmoor - quite the handful in .44-100.

Maynard Creedmoor Sight

They sure did - under a 10 power loupe - each one is picture perfect. Those boys were some real craftsman in those days considering what they had to work with. But in all honesty - my Ukranian one is every bit as good and in some cases tighter. You certainly don't need it - all you really need is th...

Maynard Creedmoor Tang Sight

Thanks for the tips - they certainly are worth trying.

Currently in contact with a Involute Gear Cutter Manufacturer in Canada to see what they can do and of course how much.

Will keep you posted on results. Would like to make a couple to pay for the cost of tooling up for it - Ha !!!

Maynard Creedmoor Tang Sight

Has anyone built a Maynard Rack and Pinion Tang Sight? I'm looking for information on how to cut the pinion and rack, what cutters I would need, a recommended method to index the pinion while cutting and etc. Any help or information would put me one step closer to finishing my "Dream" rifle. Maynard Knockoffs

Thank you very much for the info. After I posted last night I did a google search and found them. Have either of you dealt with the Rifle Shoppe? Wonder about the quality of castings and shrinkage. Do you shoot your Maynards? I shoot an 1882 .35-40 and an 1873 .40-70 quite a bit. That .35-40 surpris...

Maynard Knockoffs

Mike, can you provide an address or link for the Rifle Shoppe - I haven't heard of them before. Have you used any of their castings?

Do they list other Maynard parts as well? I'm looking for a 73 hammer.
