Re: Uberti Highwall

I have a Uberti highball in 40/65. Great gun, the only things I have done is put mva sights, restocked with a shotgun buttplate, and had to lock tight the set trigger adjustment screw so it doesn’t adjust itself and peen the hole in the hammer to stop the pin that holds the fly in as it had a Tendan...

Re: What are these inserts ?

With a 13/16" dia they are most likely a set of old smallbore/bigbore sights, anschutz or parker hale. The parker hale I have definitely has a large lug and a small lug to make sure they only go in 1 way, pretty sure the anny/parker hale inserts will fit each other. They are quite easy to get hold o...

Re: New tumbler

Ive been using the frankford one for about 2 years now. I do get a small amount of peening on the case mouth but about once a year I just run my VLD deburrer into the case mouth and continue on( I run them through my annealing machine as well at this time). I found the peening reduced when you only ...

Re: fire forming starline cases

I don't full length size the cases after firing but was never able to get any good accuracy without some neck tension. I use a neck sizing die only. There will be guys who say you don't need to size your case at all, this may work for them but it does not work for me. I look at the most accurate gun...

Re: Naked, grooveless bullets

Brent, Shooting with LLA works well with smokeless bullets and I can't see why (as long as you clean between shots) it would not work with black powder. I have been playing around with my 40 cal and a grooveless projectile with mixed results. I have been trying a baked on coating that completely cov...

Re: Scoped BPCR

Thanks, went over to a shoot last weekend, 50 min worked out just about perfect. Just for fun I shot my BPCR rifle with the scope in the highpower silhouette match with there 2.5min time limits and all off hand. Was very happy shooting a 17/40 in the first match and 13/40 in the second. Beat a whole...

Scoped BPCR

Gday all, I have just aquired an MVA scope for my BPCR. Im using a 40-65,420g saeco pushed with 52g swiss 1.5. How much elevation would I need to get from Chickens to Rams on this new modern fandangled thing?

Re: Finally got it

Gave it its first real test on the weekend. Shot 200m Benchrest on the ASSRA targets. Was using 70g Swiss 1.5F with a grease soaked felt wad. Had 8 shots in a reasonable group then 2 shots dropped, they felt different when I loaded them into the chamber. I must admit I have been trying different pat...

Re: Finally got it

Brent it will make the trip this year if it performs. If not I'll just have my old wogchester 40-65. I intend to test it cleaning/blowing/not cleaning etc to see if i can get the same results. Lots of testing to be done and if it all works then a new set of MVA sights and a new stock better suited t...

Re: Finally got it

Well 50 cases are now fireformed. Accuracy wasnt brilliant but I wasn't really looking for that at the moment. What I was impressed with was firing 20 shots no cleaning/blow tubing and getting absolutly no lead in the bore at all. The 20 shots went into about a 3.5 inch group at 100m
