Re: 40-70 Straight Brass
I have a BUNCH of Bertram 40/70 SS. Some new in the20 round boxes and some used and sized. This stuff worked well in Shiloh and C. Sharps chambers. The new brass must be trimmed but it is head stamped as 40/70. PM me if your interested and I'll do a count. I no longer shoot so I can sure spare it.

Re: New Pedersoli Sharps....issues
When you go to disassemble the rifle try this:
Remove the forend (two screws) and the LOOSEN the lever spring retaining screw.
THEN, remove the breech block retaining pin, block, and extractor.
tight lever spring is good; just don't damage it by forcing removal of the block.

Re: Lead flakes
If your trapdoor is an original I'd start with a real intensive cleaning of the bore. Most of these old timers have a clean "looking" bore but are moderate to heavy leaded. If you are getting just some flakes and NO bore streaks of lead I'd play with overall length of the cartridge: again, trapdoors...

I have one in 22LR and it is a fine rifle. Shilen barrel, fancy wood, well fitted and finished. Not cheap but quality never is.

Re: Spotting Scope your help needed
I have a Kowa 821 and there is no better for spotting sillouhette shooting. I use the 27X ER eyepeice.
It is clear and bright in virtually all weather conditions. It beats all the others I have seen or used.
Been using it for 6 years.

Re: Question on rear sights
NSB I looked at the Pedersoli web page illustration of the sight and it lacks info. It appears that there is a locking screw on the back side of the staff, where the staff attaches to the base. I would suggest you call or write Pedersoli and ask for a copy of their owners manual pages. Most of the B...
