Re: Powder moisture one more time

I might give it a try. I have some Swiss in two different lots as well some OE 2 and 1.5 F. I just started a new lot of 2F OE and worked up several 5 shot ladder loads for the .45-90 and 84 and 85 grain loads will throw one shot out out of the group that is 2" or less out 1-1/2"- 2" and it's startin...

Re: cookie cutter

Why mess around with a cookie cutter that will do nothing but stick a pile of lube wads together on a pile and get deformed when you pick them up. Get a 12" shallow straight walled round cake pan put it on a hot plate with a little water in it and some lube and let it simmer for a while till all lub...

Re: Paper rings

Brent I had that happen a few times with my .40-70 and I think your right about the case being to close to the 45 degree chamber end. Also I think it also has something to do with the patch folded under not far enough that keeps the wad from catching both wraps with a shallow seated bullet. That mad...

Re: We are back!!!

Oak Ridge is on my list to make this year but I have to pass the early one. I just picked up 1300 sqf of 3/4" hardwood flooring I will start laying in about a week when it matches the moisture in the subfloor. I hope I get it done by Alma because from Alma the Gypsy wagon will be putting on miles. G...

Re: paper patch buller

No Brent I haven't. A Bison is not very wide either but the exit hole is a lot larger then the entrance especially when I cut a couple ribs. I put one through a scull and the exit just blew the scull and horn off. The hide held it in place till it rotted off with the head on a post and the buzzards ...

Re: paper patch buller

I like this one in my .44-77 but I have one for the .45 and .40 I like it so well. It is a reproduction of a Sharps. KAL makes a Gibbs like it also.
I have yet to recover one from a Bison for the four it has put down. And it also shoots well for long range.

Re: Baby wipes

In the winter I use 50/50 RV antifreeze but I have had it turn to crystals when the temp gets to the near zero then I use it straight. Works well for me.
Even in the warm summer sun and winds it will keep the patches from evaporating like just water.

Re: How Clean is Clean?

When the bore is clean pushing a dry tight patch down the bore it will come out just as white as it went in. If the patch comes out with gray streaks it is most likely lead smear. Lead will clean out using a tight patch with a good penetrating oil like Kroil or pure turpentine not a synthetic type. ...
