Re: misfires

Get a hold of a guy called Texas Mac. He literally wrote the book on those rifles. He haunts here and the ASSRA form.

Re: How do I include pictures with my BPCR postings?

This ain't so hard anymore. Hit reply start your message, then go to the bottom of the page, there are 2 tabs, options and attachments. Pick attachments. Hit add files, select your photo from the file and hit choose. You can get 3 per message. Even I did it!

Re: Building a rolling Block

I got the wood from Treeborne. I knew there was a knot in the stock when I ordered it. He cut me some slack on the price because of it. Cut me a lot of slack actually. It is going to look OK, will be able to sand all of the bark out and it will look good. Beautiful color in the wood. The barrel is f...

Re: Building a rolling Block

OK, I made that hard. Did not have to be did it? I started this project about a year ago. Got the wood and barrel in, then stuff happened and I ran out of money. Maybe I'll crowd source it. Thats it, you guys all send me money, and I'll put it into the rifle. Good plan. Another cool $1000 should get...

Re: Drilled out primer pockets

Thanks both of you. That is kind of what I thought. When something like that just disappears, there is usually a reason. I remember what 45-100's cost in the 90's. Ouch! That is why I passed up a nice used C. Sharps about that time. I could afford the rifle, but wasn't able to feed it. The dies were...

Re: compressing black powder

Horseman, I understand the powder thing. We have to bring it in 100 pounds at a time to make it affordable, around $25 a pound. I mostly shoot a flint lock, so bought a bunch of Swiss FFFG. That is what I shoot BPCR with, cuz thats what I got. I don't have another $1000 to drop on powder to see if i...

Drilled out primer pockets

Bought J.S. Wolf's book "Loading Cartridges For the Original 45-70- Springfield Rifle and Carbine" back in the 90's. I'm re reading it now. For those unfamiliar with it, it details how to load authentic rounds that shoot to the sights on a Trapdoor. I have an 84 Model. My question. He talks about dr...

Re: compressing black powder

I suspect the bullet. Get up around 500 grains. They do take up a lot more case room though.
