Paper patch 45/70 bullets

I have begun to have a serious interest in pp 45/70 bp cartridge. Con anyone tell me how pp compares to grease bullets. That is in the area of accuracy, trajectory and barrel wear and treat.

Does any one load their bp cartridges with a powder volume for say one, two or three hundred yards? Thinking this may help with recoil ty old bones. I load 55 to 70 grains for a Pedersoli long rage Creedmoor was and sharps.

Re: Recommendation for beam or electronic powder weight scale

Thanks for all the replies. I purchased a Redding no. 2 master beam scale. Received it today. It has a cast aluminum base and aluminum pan. Took it out of the box and it zeroed right out. I think I will be happy with it. As for static, l just don’t see the big deal. I would not weigh powder with it ...

Re: Recommendation for beam or electronic powder weight scale

Thanks. I have looked at all current beam scales offers. The only one I have found recommended for black powder is the Lyman brass smith. It has an aluminum cast body and therefore little change of static. I wonder if the static free deal is all that important. I reload on a cast iron press and it i...

help getting started with bullet casting

I have decided to give casting a go. At first, casting came to mind while trying to affordably feed my creedmore 45/70 rifle. It seems that I can drop the price from little over a buck a round to a little over .25 cent a round. As I began reserching casting it occured to me that casting is cool stuf...

Re: vernier sight help

Thanks brent, you have really helped me out. The pedersoli vernier sight is like most. The staff is marked in .050" segments and the slide bar is marked in five .01" segments. But, here is a little shake up. I conversed with pedersoli today (rifle maker) and found that with my soul vernier sight I d...

Re: vernier sight help

I can certainly see that my question may be a little hard to follow. Let me clear things up alittle. At my range we have 1,2 &3 hundred yard targets. Shooters are not allowed to aim at points in between the targets. So, my closest target will be at 1 hundred yards. I have no rear barrel sight mounte...

I have a pedersoli creedmore XL mid range sight mounted on a pedersoli creedmore long range rifle. New to vernier sights. I think I understand the staff and slide mathmatics. Re: pedersoli long range sight

I received two identical pedersoli long range sights when I traded for the rifle. Looking at both as assymbled I think the base is on correctly. Good point concerning the front sight. I will reserch that issue . This is my first experiance with a creedmore rollingblock rifle. I may need to read up o...

pedersoli long range sight

I have a pedersoli creedmore supermatch rolling block rifle. I also have the pedersoli creedmore soule long range rear sigt mounted on the rifle. I was trying to zero the rifle at 100 and two hundred yards a few days ago. I could not even get the shots on a 3' by 4' paper. A fellow who owns a sharps...
