Trimmer Problem

My ancient Lyman case trimmer is about shot and I decided to move up a bit, or so I thought, to an RCBS Trim Pro - 2 case trimmer. I just got it today. Well, a preliminary try indicates that .45-70 cases simply are not going to go into the universal shell holder that came with it. Nothing in the lit...

Re: Rolling Block Markings

OK..now I understand what you are asking. The breech block is straight across - no concavity. The barrel is undercut at the breech to clear the breech block as it rolls into the receiver. The pins are held in by a plate secured by a single screw. There is no firing pin retaining screw visible in the...

Re: Rolling Block Markings

Except for the .45-70 marking previously mentioned, the exposed part of the action is completely clean. It has the straight extractor. Not quite sure what you are asking about the breech block. I think the operative word for the shape of the hammer and breech block is "round." There are few flat sur...

Rolling Block Markings

I have a rifle built on an original Rolling Block No. 1 black powder action. I bought it in 1973 for the huge sum of $150. At the time it had a Numrich arms barrel and stocks on it. You may remember that they offered two kits to do this conversion back in the late 60s to early 70s or even later, to ...

Shiloh Forum

I recently took delivery on a Shiloh Long Range Express from Bill Goodman and have owned a Shiloh 1863 rifle for 35 years. Since the folks at Shiloh have a forum I decided to join it. However, almost two weeks has passed since I registered without notification of approval. Anyone else have that kind...

Re: The Quigley

Went for the first time ever this year, although not to shoot. My best friend goes out there every year to see his daughter and her family who live in Miles City and while he is there he shoots in the match. I acted as his spotter this year and got a feel for it. Was able to shoot his C Sharps Arms ...

Re: New guys Pedersoli.

Not a Pedersoli. The metal parts are not very well inletted and the hammer and safety are not Pedersoli. I believe it is an IAB also.

Re: Old Eynsford

Thanks but I do not know what all that means. My question mainly involves performance in the cartridge. How did it load and was it accurate?

Thanks again.

Old Eynsford

Has anyone loaded 1.5 FG Old Eynsford in .45-70 and if so, how were your results? Goex and Old Eysnford are the only powders available in my immediate area and I want to see if it is a good substitute for 1.5 FG Swiss...or any good at all. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hard Closing Sharps

I have a Pedersoli model 1874 in .45-70. I have owned it for almost 13 years. During all that time closing the breech has been easy but very - how can I put this - forceful. When I reach the point with the lever where the breech is about to close, the lever spring propels it shut, if I don't try to ...

Re: About that lion called Cecil ...

Thanks for the good information on Cecil and the uproar which surrounded his killing. The PETA types have weighed in now and will probably drift away from it very soon as they find someone else who has done something they do not like and decide to harass that person. Interestingly, there was a colum...

Re: BPCR in South Carolina

The range in Georgia would be a long haul for you but one that is much closer and occasionally has BPCR matches is located in Fayetteville, NC. It is the Cross Creek Rifle and Pistol Club. Contact Robert S Tiffany at 910-323-4979 for information. SC also has public ranges scattered here and there ac...
