Re: Bone Charcoal
Thats an idea. Thanks. I will have to make sure its bone charcoal and not wood though. Another thing I found on the internet was that bone charcoal is used to make white sugar from brown. We have a sugar refinery here in Queensland so I will ask them. It may not still be the case as the Vegans got a...

Re: Bore dia. vrs. groove dia, P.P.?
I always recommend finding your paper first, then have the bullet mould made to fit. That way, you can have exactly what you want - perfection. If you have trouble finding paper, one decent source is Amazon.com. Search for Staedtler 8 lb tracing paper. It comes in rolls. It is on the thin side but ...

Re: Bone Charcoal
I searched for wood charcoal burner and got lots of info so I think the drum inside a drum method might work for bone as well. I will give it a go.

Re: Bone Charcoal
Thanks John Boy. That was interesting and had some good ideas. The problem is that here in Australia I have not found a scource of bone charcoal hence wanting to make my own. Importing from Brownells would be expensive. The freight I pay even on small items from the USA is over the top. I need some ...

Bone Charcoal
I have a heap of cow bones I would like to make charcoal from for Colour Case Hardening experiments. Has anyone done this or can direct me to other sites where this has been done. When I was doing Rendevous we made charcloth by sealing it in a container with a small hole in it then putting it in the...

Re: Pedersoli Soule tang sight
Dusty Ed. There is a set screw on the back , but it just changes the effort needed to move the windage. Like a friction damper thing. I will try what MC said and use a couple of Vice Grips  Pull it apart and see how it w ped sight 03.JPG ped sight 02.JPG orks. I took the Hadley off and put it...

Re: Pedersoli Soule tang sight
I swapped it out for another I had. It works OK for load development but has no windage to speak of and the adjustment markings are so fine I can hardly read them.

Re: Trouble casting new Money bullet
Well that was easy and made all the difference. I should have done that years ago. Thanks all for the advice :D Just have to get them to shoot now. The new method on the left and the old on the right. Sorry, the auto focus is on the ladel not the slugs but you get the picture. Keith money bullet.JPG

Re: Trouble casting new Money bullet
I was talking about this to an old mate yesterday. He uses a Lee bottom pour pot, and he said he had an old ladle I could have.
He rummaged around in a drawer and gave me this. I guess it will clean up OK.

Re: Trouble casting new Money bullet
I did not think a sprue plate could be too tight. It was loose enough to flop open when I got it so I tightened it up a bit so I have to push it with a gloved hand. The flopping annoyed me but you might have something there as its venting better when loose. I will loosen it a bit and try again later...
