Re: BPCR forum up and running again

Yes, I had about given up on it, but it is back. I hope it will stay. We need another place to chat and keep the airwaves flowing with information and enthusiasm.

Re: Null Spot Vibration Dampening Felt

I'm not sure I follow what is being described, but you can have only 1 layer of anything between your barrel and your sticks.

Also, if you are at the null spot, (aka a harmonic node), you don't need any dampening. The spot is not vibrating.

Either a trapdoor or a sharps would be an awesome hunting gun in that cartridge. I've never had one, but thought about it often.

Good luck with the hunt. It's out there somewhere for you.

Re: Expander needed

I think turning one might be a bit tricky. They are hardened. I am sure it can be done, but not easily. I have tried putting one in drill press and turning it down with a file and emery cloth. No luck. Annealing and rehardening would probably have worked, but... A local shop could probably make one ...

Sadly, Dick Gunn passed away some years ago. I can't say for sure but certainly at least 5. Must be a fairly whole thread I suppose but I didn't see a Date on it

I would not shoot it with black. It might melt and make a mess like plastic wads in a shotgun.

Re: What scope do I have and does someone make blocks....

It does not look like a Winchester to me. It looks a lot like a Carolyn that may have made some scopes for Winchester. But regardless, the fact that it does not slide and you mention a Remington #2 makes me think you are putting together a .22. If memory serves, a #2 is pretty small for a .40 or .45...

Re: What scope do I have and does someone make blocks....

That looks better! Hmm, it is not made to slide. So my guess is a .22 target scope. It might clamp on to standard blocks that we use of Unertls and so forth. I would look at Steve Earle's website for blocks. If you don't find something that looks promising, then I would ask him to make some perhaps....

Re: What scope do I have and does someone make blocks....

It is most definitely not an A-5 (which are 5X among other differences). I don't know what it is, but the mount you show is different than anything I've seen. I cannot tell much from the photos. Is this even an external adjustable scope (ALL of the adjustment mechanism must be outside the scope if i...

Well, that is great to know. Thanks!

I do not shoot much smokeless or grease groove bullets, but I've been hoarding my old JSL.

You typed 235 gr, but I think you meant 535 gr. You might want to edit your post.

Also, where can you buy Javelina Schuetzen lube today? I thought it was no longer widely available after its inventor passed some years ago.

Re: Wads under Paper-patch bullets

Kurt,
Butch Ulsher used to shoot a whole lot of pufflon chicken loads using greasers without a problem. I've got some pufflon, but it's too expensive to make into a habit. I don't think it is as likely to work with bore diameter bullets.

Muzzlestuffer, you probably mean a 0.03" veg wad, not 0.3".
