Re: Roll crimp, Taper crimp or no crimp?

I think I found the accuracy problem. I have always used Winchester brass, always, for the last 8 years in loading and shooting BPCR. For some unknown reason I had 60 rounds loaded using Hornady brass and never checked the length of the brass. Thats why I have stopped loading when the wife and/or 6 ...

Re: Roll crimp, Taper crimp or no crimp?

I think I'm going to start over with .459 Creedmor style bullet, CCI BR2 primers, tracing paper over the primer, taper crimp with more powder and using a compression plug. I got to order some bullets from BACO so I might as well get a taper crimp die along with a compression plug. I told my wife its...

Roll crimp, Taper crimp or no crimp?

I was just wondering what the seasoned BPCR guys who are on this forum are doing as far as crimping? I am still trying to get an accurate load for my Browning 1885 45-70. I'm obviously doing something wrong or I just can't shoot anymore. I'm trying not to get discouraged, but doing it on your own wi...

The plunge

Well I took the plung a few days ago and purchased a Browning BPCR in 45-70 off of Gun Broker. The wife didn't like the thought of me shelling out $1,755 for the gun or another $60 for shipping and another $25 for the FFL transfer. Thats when I informed her of that new refridgerator she bought a mon...

Uberti highwall DST

I have a Uberti high wall in 45-70 with a single trigger. It is aweful.
I want to order a double set trigger for it along with a #4 Badger barrel.
Has anyone put the DST in these and how hard is it? Maybe I should just sell it for $850 and put that down on a Browning BPCR from TexasMac.

Re: Need Advice

Yes, I have located those and several others, I missed out on a 34" creedmoor 45-90 for $1695 just 2 days ago. That probably was a good buy.
I'm patient. I'll get one.
Thanks

Re: Need Advice

Thanks for all the responses, and as for being "blunt" DRcook, I try to adhere to my grandfathers advice, which is "plain talk is easily understood". As for what I intend to buy, I'm leaning toward a Browning 1885 BPCR in 45-70. They are quality made as well as any, lifetime warrenty, proven to shoo...

Re: Need Advice

Brent, I was looking at it this morning. I currently have 120 new Hornady 405 brass that would work for it, and I like the caliber. It seems like a decent price. I wonder who the barrel is made by?

Re: Need Advice

Well I can see by the 49 or so views and no responses that either 1 of 2 things are happening. 1.) A lack of knowledge on the subject. 2.) That the hospitality on the forum to a new person is about as warm as the greeting that Obahma gets at a NRA fundraiser and the KKK is catering. I sure hope its ...

Need Advice

Well here goes my question and I’m sure the responses will be great. I would, like to get into shooting BPCR for competition. I have owned several in the past and just played around a bit here at the house. I am going to purchase a 45-70 that is made here in the USA. I’m having a hard time deciding ...
