Re: Verier eye cup anomaly or Phenomenon
Its normal
I see it all the time.
especially indoors checking the sight.
so did my brother when looking thru them indoors and he had better than 2020 vision
Just line that dark blob up with the target and pull the trigger

Re: New to me CPA .40-65 - need load suggestions
Hard to give you any definitive advice other than to say the only way to know is to try the 3f.
My first mould for the 40-65 was a Lyman 410663 snover bullet. Very accurate bullet for mid range. Plenty of grease grooves for blow tubing.

Re: Starting Load Needed
Yea, looking at that bullet, it probably is seated deep. Sounds like the 61gr you came up with should be fine. Are you compressing with or without the wad in place. I've never had one pop out compressing with the wad in place but I have had the bullet pop back up when seating in unsized cases. Just ...

Re: Starting Load Needed
just make it simple LR primer, enough powder to need just a little compression to chamber the round if you have a compression die. or no compression if not 1 or 2 ldpe wads and be done. wont matter if you slip fit the bullets in as fired brass, or if you have them sized. Object is simply to get them...

Re: misfires
This was a later Winchester 45-90 with 30" barrel. I believe it was unfired when I bought it and not sure I ever did fire it before modifying it.
