Re: Things to see, when we come over.

When you head down to Florida, you might want to consider stopping in St Augustine. It is the oldest city in the country. The old city is there. You can walk the cobblestone streets. The shops have been converted to craft/gift shops, but if you like history, you need to see it. The original Spanish ...

Re: cimarron 1885 high wall 45-70

Where in W.V. ? One of the ranges I belong to has targets boards at 600. It is close to New Philadelphia in Ohio, straight up old US 250 from Bridgeport and Wheeling. But once again, it all depends on where you are at as to how far you drive. It is Tusco Rifle Club and you have to join to shoot ther...

Re: Duplex load for 45-110

Most people that I know shoot 110's are up in the 107 / 108 grains of 1F area. I shoot Goex 1F as do my friends. CCI-BR2's or Fed 210M's are the primers of choice. An .060 LDPE wad and then a notebook wad on top of that in between the bullet to aid in separation. With the big 110 case, it is on the ...

Re: New guys Pedersoli.

Sharps made by the I.A.B. company and sold under their name, or the Tri-Star name have that hammer block safety. Pedersolis do not.

You can also tell that the hammer profile is wrong for a Pedersoli and is indicative of the IAB.

Re: Old Farts only

There are a couple little regional swap meets, flea markets and junk sellers around here. I will keep my eyes open, but typically, the "junkers" know what stuff sells for. I would like to have a decent razor like that. An old one, just like you. New stuff just doesn't "feel right". Of course, the co...

Re: Proper use of the blowtube.

If a person isn't careful, you can pull the amount of oxygen in your blood down because you are intent on getting enough moisture into the barrel. It doesn't take much to affect your eyesight a little is all I am saying. Not to the point of seeing the black tunnel or passing out, just enough to star...

Re: Proper use of the blowtube.

RV-AF is non-toxic. You put it in the water lines to keep the lines/fixtures from freezing. Also in the water tanks and all the traps. It is pink in color and specifically mark RV Antifreeze. You can pick the patches up and if you forget and stick your fingers in your eyes or mouth, you will have no...

Re: Proper use of the blowtube.

This year at Alliance I had Smitty switch to using RV anti-freeze. He was using water and I noticed that he was starting to get that dreaded orange color. The first couple days at Alliance, there was no rust, but when it got hot and dry I noticed it. Back in 2004 and 2009, I observed other folks pus...

Re: Barrel Heat's effect on Group Size

On a side note, how long do folks let their BP loaded ammo sit around? Sometimes I work up a load, and load 50 round and it may take me two months to shoot it all. Does it matter. I just shot some that I loaded back in 2009. They shot the same as the ones that I loaded 4 weeks ago. They were stored...

Re: Comparison of Rem, Win & Starline .45-70 brass

Kurt, I just checked a handful of 5 yr old 45 2.6 cases that I have not used yet. They measured .4995 right in front of the rim. Every case I have from Starline have been very consistent in their measurements and every 45 case I have measured over the years has been .4995 to .500. Something went wro...

Re: Badger barrels

If you are blowtubing for fouling control, you might need to keep yourself hydrated. I have found that I don't drink some water while shooting a match, it does get tiresome. I also lay at an angle behind the gun, not straight behind it. My CPA 45-100 with 32" nbr 4 profile barrel gives me a headache...

Re: Badger barrels

To be honest I'm still having a few issues shooting his thing consistently. I think the gun and the load aren't bad, but the 93gr of powder wears on me and is unforgiving of any inconsistency in my hold. My last targets tend to look a bit worse than the first ones. :D Get yourself a "Shooter's Frie...
