Re: PP Patched Bullet Diameter

Brent is right-on about a starting load. You will no doubt have to wipe between shots to get good accuracy. Start with a snug-fitting damp patch, run from the breech and out the muzzle. Then another damp patch followed by one dry patch. An alternate starter load would be to include a lube wad. That ...

RML In the abstract, there is no difference between 20:1 vs 30:1. Both can work well, or not, in a particular rifle. It depends on your loading method, caliber, bullet, primer plus a dozen other variables. You might try a search on this site for your caliber to see what other shooters are using. Tha...

acelunger I acquired a nice Aydt earlier this year and have been shooting it some. It's plenty accurate enough for 200 offhand shooting on the German ring target. No need to re-barrel or re-chamber those old rifles. The most common caliber is 8.15X46R which can be made from 30-30 Win. You'll have to...

FS Original Marlin 1893 barrel

FS If you have an old Marlin 1893 with an un-shootable bore, this is about as close as you are likely to get for a screw-in replacement. Original Marlin 1893 full oct, 32-40 rifle barrel only. Bore: as new, exterior: sharp oct corners, original blue, numerous scuffs in bluing due to storage, front &...

gregg877 Being a model 52 gives clue that you are planning to do at least some offhand shooting with your new CPA. I think you have overall made good choices in the rifle’s configuration except for the 34 inch barrel. I think you will find it excessively long for offhand shooting and all that length...

Ranch You might consider having Steve Brooks cut you a PP mould. He has made two 40 cals for me. Both cast bullets that are dead-nuts right on the specifications that I sent him. He also will normally have the mould back to you within about 4 weeks of mailing your order (2 weeks in his shop plus out...

Not knowing just what you are looking for but try:

then click on Guns for Sale
scroll down to the bottom of the page.
It's a nice old hunter's rifle but not something you would want to hack up to make a target rifle.

If you read this thread from the Shiloh forum, it will introduce you to some the the issues you may encounter in paper patching. I hope it doesn't put you off PPBs but it brings up points you will need to be aware of.
